Vorderman Volkswagen
Dealership Renovation
Fort Wayne, Indiana
For almost 30 years, Vorderman Volkswagen has been a familiar name in Fort Wayne and a recognizable presence along I-69. When Volkswagen introduced updated dealership brand standards, it presented an opportunity to do more than comply. It was a chance to strengthen the customer experience, support the day-to-day operations, and ensure the dealership continues to reflect the quality, comfort, and modern aesthetic VW is known for.
Working closely with the owner, the renovation focused on aligning the customer experience, operational needs, and Volkswagen’s brand standards at every touchpoint. The east entrance was transformed using Volkswagen’s White Frame system, updated signage, and enhanced site features designed to create a stronger sense of arrival. A dedicated vehicle delivery area was added to enhance the delivery experience and celebrate the moment customers receive the keys to their new vehicle.
Given the dealership’s proximity to I-69, the renovation also created an opportunity to increase visibility from the interstate. The architectural updates to the south side of the building mirror the redesign of the east entrance through accent lighting, white metal paneling, and VW signage. Together, these elements strengthen the building’s presence while also maintaining compliance with Volkswagen’s brand standards. The paneling required custom modifications so the new façade could achieve the intended appearance while accommodating the existing roof peak.
The showroom was fully reimagined. A new illuminated welcome wall remains visible 24-hours a day, helping draw visitors into the showroom at any time day or night. Updated finishes, furnishings, lighting, graphics, and signage create a brighter, more contemporary environment that remains welcoming and easy to navigate. These enhancements support a better experience for both customers and staff.
While many of the improvements are visible throughout the facility, the project also addressed building systems behind the scenes. An assessment of the mechanical systems identified opportunities to improve comfort, air quality, and operational efficiency. Updated HVAC zoning helps the facility perform more effectively while creating a more comfortable and reliable environment.
The renovation also included targeted updates to staff spaces on the second floor. Fresh paint, new lighting, graphics, and a new ceiling in the break room and conference room create a brighter, more refreshed environment for employees.
The service reception area received updated lighting, ceilings, and flooring, along with the integration of an updated Hunter Alignment System. Together, these improvements support more efficient service operations and help ensure customers receive the quality care and attention they expect.
The results reflect Volkswagen’s evolving brand standards while supporting the seamless customer experience, operational efficiency, and attention to detail that continue to define the dealership today.
