As a rural, critical access hospital in a small community Jay County Hospital struggled with the challenge of efficiently staffing multiple hospital entrances, registration and waiting areas.
MSKTD worked with hospital staff and administration to develop an expansion and renovation that combined the hospital’s main entrance and emergency department into a combined front door. Registration is shared between general hospital use and the ER and patients with higher acuity are routed to several over-sized triage rooms. The Triage rooms can serve dual purpose, acting as exam rooms during slower evening hours.
