David Letterman Communication & Media Building
Muncie, Indiana
Connecting the Ball and Bell buildings on the Ball State University campus, the new $21.0 mil David Letterman Communication and Media Building offers students and faculty 24-hour access to a world-class facility with equipment equal to that found in New York and Hollywood.
A major design feature of the 85,000 s.f. building is a strong axis running from Schaffer Tower in an east-west direction upon which a large open atrium collects and separates the multilevel floors in the building. The building’s interior features bamboo walls, floors and trim, and light filled instructional areas, research labs, offices, and gathering areas.
This state-of-the-art facility includes a $1.0 mil production complex with two recording studios, two control rooms, two isolation rooms, and five editing suites, with quality equipment found only in the top studios in the world. It also includes a 30 seat screening room with a high definition projection system and surround sound, and is home to IPR and WCRD radio.
