Indiana University Southeast
New Campus Library
New Albany, Indiana
MSKTD partnered with Shepley Bulfinch Richardson & Abbott of Boston for the design of this 75,000 gsf new freestanding library facility on the Indiana University Southeast campus.
A major design feature of the Library is a strong axis running the length of the building, along which major functional areas of the Library are located. Library functions are visible and accessible from this axis. Our goal was to make it easy for patrons to identify the Circulation and Reference Desks, Photocopy Room, Computer Classroom, Collections and Study areas arranged along this defining element.
Other key features of the Library are a 30 station computer classroom to be used as a classroom for bibliographic instruction, and seating for 476 students, faculty, staff, and community visitors provided in a variety of settings; tables and chairs, soft seating and carrels, in areas for individual and group study.
This project was honored with an “Outstanding Building Award – Post Secondary” from American School & University Magazine.
